Installation Instructions
We provide two standard methods to install hydraulic cylinder seals. Choose based on your seal type and available tools.
Installation Method 1: Standard Press-Fit Assembly
- Use the mounting pin to align the seal components inside the cylinder bore.
- Use a ballast tool, locating cone sleeve, and auxiliary pressure plate to gradually compress and install the seal components into the gland without damaging the material.
This method is suitable for standard seals with medium flexibility, and reduces the risk of tearing during installation.
Installation Method 2: PTFE & O-Ring Installation with Calibration
O ring installation
PTFE Slip Ring Install
Calibration
- O-Ring Installation
Lubricate and place each O-ring into its groove using specialized tools to avoid twisting or over-stretching. - PTFE Slip Ring Installation
Gently expand the PTFE ring using a heated mandrel or forming tool, then place it over the piston or gland.
Allow it to cool and reshape into its groove precisely. - Calibration
Use a calibration tool or press-fit tool to compress the installed seals uniformly and ensure correct fit and compression rate before cylinder reassembly.
This method is especially recommended for high-pressure or precision-fit PTFE seals and wear rings.
